WAFO Summer Volunteers Needed For 2026

The Warwick Area Farmworkers Organization (WAFO) has the following job position opening in our educational team that provides educational enrichment for our youth participants in our Dulce Esperanza Summer Camp program.

Compensation: $25.00/hr This position is a part-time position up to 20 hours/week

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-1:00PM from June 29th-August 14th

Location: Pine Island Elementary, 20 School House Rd, Pine Island, NY

Reports to: Camp Director

Position Summary:
The Summer Camp Teacher is a creative, enthusiastic educator who makes learning an adventure for campers ages 6–12. This role weaves light academic enrichment across subjects– including reading, math, science, and more into the fun, relaxed rhythm of summer camp life. The goal is to keep young minds curious and engaged through hands-on activities, games, and exploration.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead fun, low-pressure academic activities across core subjects including literacy, numeracy, science, and creative arts
  • Foster a relaxed, judgment-free learning environment
  • Work closely with camp counselors to co-facilitate activities, support group management, and tend to individual camper needs

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in education or related field
  • Valid state teaching certification/license
  • Experience working with school-aged children
