The Warwick Area Migrant Committee Summer Enrichment Program continued through the month of July 2019 with lots of educational enrichment, field trips, guest speakers, and a whole lot of summertime fun!
Some highlights for the last two weeks include:
We would like to thank the Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus Council # 4952 for hosting a barbecue cook out for the students in the program on Friday, July 26, 2019. The Knights did a great job of cooking and all the children (as well as the staff) enjoyed the picnic style meal. The Knights have a long history of helping out the WAMC and we truly appreciate their support. Thank you for such a great event! All the students had a wonderful time.
Maya Henderson is one of our student teachers this year in the Summer Program. Ms. Maya (as the children call her) is assigned to the Group 1 students. She is really adored by the children as you can see from the pictures below. Ms. Maya is another example of the many wonderful volunteers we have staffing our program this year. You can read more about some of those volunteer staff members on our WAMC Staff Page. Thank you to Ms. Maya and all the other teachers who make the WAMC Summer Program truly something special for all the children who attend it. We appreciate all you do for the children and thank you!
Looking for more pictures? Our WAMC Instagram account is a great way to keep up with our program. Daily our staff members post to the WAMC Instagram account and share inside real time updates of what is going on each day. It is a wonderful way to keep up with all the exciting and wonderful ways the WAMC Summer Program provides educational enrichment to children in need.
This month the Instagram site gave updates on Wednesday Tumbling Classes, the D’Anonio Dance Academy stopping in to teach hip hop dance class, Crafts with Claire, the students read to a dog (because dogs cannot read of course), our Ice Cream Social that honored many those behind the scenes volunteers who support our program throughout the year, and lots of playtime between all these other activities.
July has been a busy month for the kids and August only promises to be just as busy (if not more so).
As always, thank you to all who have donated to the program– we appreciate your support! If you would like to make a donation to the program you can do so safely and securely here.
