Dr. David Leach, Superintendent of the Warwick Valley Central School System, will be presented with the Outstanding Service Award by the Warwick Area Migrant Committee (WAMC) on May 6, 2018 at 2 pm. The award will be presented at the Pine Island Brewery, location for the 2018 WAMC Summer Fundraiser for the Summer Enrichment program. Foods will be served as the fundraiser portion of this program.
Dr. Leach is being honored for his support of the Summer Enrichment program, which serves children from farm worker families. Approximately 100 children attend this program, centered at the Pine Island Elementary School. The location had been used historically for the same summer program, until the early 1970s.
The Board of Directors selected Dr. Leach as he provided essential support for the first year of the program and has continued to provide leadership. The parents have named this program, “Dulce Esperanza” which is translated to Sweet Hope. Dr. Leach has provided these families with that sweet hope for their children.
