Community Health Workers
WAFO’s Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a vital role in educating and empowering families on a wide range of health topics. As trusted members of the community– often sharing the same language, culture or background, they build strong connections and promote open conversations about health and well-being.
This year our CHWs focused primarily on mental health awareness, offering workshops and outreach sessions both at local community centers and directly to farms. Through these efforts families received valuable information and resources to support emotional and physical wellness.
Every year WAFO partners with the community to distribute Safety Backpacks filled with essential items and educational materials to promote health and safety in the fields.
We are proud to note that last year WAFO teens were certified as Youth Community Health Workers through the Morehouse School of Medicine; helping to inspire and train the next generation of leaders in community wellness.
