Help Needed With College Supplies for One of Our Graduating Students

Over the years both our Dulce Esperanza Summer Program and our After School Program have helped out countless numbers of children within the migrant farmworker community of the Warwick Valley. Going back to our roots as the Mustard Seed Ministry when our predecessor organization, the Warwick Area Migrant Committee, was first established these children and their well being have always been our central focus. As the Warwick Area Farmworkers Organization we expanded that focus to assist in every dimension of support we could for the migrant farmworkers and their families still making sure childhood enrichment and education was always a primary focus for our work.

The result has been numerous children of the migrant farmworker community that the WAFO has helped out have gone onto higher education and successful completion of college or vocational training that lead to work careers within our communities as well as some of these individuals going on to be small business owners in our community. This impact can not only be seen in the immediate Warwick Valley, but well beyond throughout Orange and Sussex Counties and surrounding Tri-state NY/NJ/PA area.

This year one of our students who participated in many of our WAFO programs throughout their public school years will graduate high school and begin their college journey. This student’s name is Angel and they are in need of help to get the common household supplies every college student needs for living away in a college dorm. We have taken Angel’s cause up and want to spread the word because we know our community. We also know it’s generosity towards children and the young adults who graduate high school after receiving support as well as educational enrichment from our programs. These students’ individual educational success is a larger sign of our shared community’s success of making our mutual goal of improving migrant farmworker families’ lives a reality. Each college degree; each vocational certification; each completion of honorable service in the military; and each business founded is a tangible result of your support and our shared work in the WAFO’s mission to help these children out and now we humbly ask you to help us do the same for Angel.

You can help get Angel these much needed dorm supplies through their Target College Wishlist. Each item purchased through this list will be shipped to Angel’s parents home so they have everything they need come the end of August 2025 for the Fall college semester. Angel’s immediate supply needs are all listed, but you are also welcome to buy a gift card through the Wish List so Angel can get other supplies for school from Target such as shelf stable snacks or school supplies.

We appreciate your continued support of the children in the Warwick migrant farmworker community and specifically your kind generosity with helping Angel get ready to begin the next phase of their life as a young adult. Thank you!
