The Christmas season is close at hand and Warwick Area Farmworkers Organization will be running a special store for farmworker families. Families are invited to the Christmas store that has only new items that are priced at a fraction of their cost. The funds that are raised by the Christmas Store are used for the WAFO winter program activities. We will be offering English classes, the sewing program and Hot Meals.
The WAFO Christmas Shop offers a great opportunity for adult migrant farmworkers to purchase gifts for their families while supporting the programs they participate in financially. Families will be given an appointment to shop while their children can make an ornament, enjoy Christmas cookies and a snack. The WAFO Christmas Store will be held on December 20th and 21st this year (2024).
Volunteer “helper elves” will be needed to help prepare for the store and to help with the store too. Volunteers should contact Joe Maggio, Director for Voluntary Services, at: joeboymaggio45@gmail.com
We also need some more “helper elves” to purchase gifts for the shop itself. You can click the image below to donate gifts for the children’s families to purchase at a much reduced amount than you will be paying for them through our Amazon wish list or from the list here. Again this reduced costs allows the parents and adults to purchase gifts they may otherwise not be able to afford and this reduced amount of money goes back to the program to help others get access to educational opportunities they might not otherwise be able to do. This is a huge win-win for all the migrant farmworkers and their families involved, but it cannot happen without your financial support and volunteer help. Thank you for your help and support in advance!
